July is the first month of my 12 month/365 day illustration challenge.
I recently started illustrating again after a 7-year hiatus.
It just felt right. I suppose that’s like a lot of creative things in life. There are pauses, starts, stops, restarts. You just have to go with what feels right and good. And keep moving forward.
I’ve learned a good deal from some amazing artists/illustrators this summer. Most of it has distilled into one main theme … just keep creating. I will be sharing info for some of the artists i find inspiring over the coming months. Jennifer Orkin Lewis (aka “August Wren”) in particular is fantastic. Her “keep doing, keep creating” approach is particularly motivating. I’m actually using her 365 illustration challenge book (see below for details) to inspire me to complete at least one drawing a day for the next year. I am committed to this no matter what other projects I happen to be working on.
I will be sharing these daily illustrations (i.e. the good, the bad, the ugly, and more) here on my site and on social media. (Constructive feedback is always appreciated.)
Final parting thoughts for today … go ahead and chase the white rabbit down the hole, laugh, live, love, create, do what sets your heart and soul ablaze, and don’t ever look back!
Peace & Happy Creating -
